The interactive checklist needs JavaScript. You can also follow these steps at your own pace.

  1. Set up a safe test

Start on staging with a current backup and synthetic details. New installations have recording paused. Publish and select your website’s policy in WordPress Settings → Privacy before using the built-in prompt. In Settings & privacy, review page exclusions, keep page text masked and confirm how visitors will give permission.

Choose Prepare test settings only when you are ready. It fills the form with recording enabled and 100% sampling; you must review and select Save settings. While enabled, other eligible, consenting tabs may also be recorded.

    Read the privacy guide
  2. Record one test visit

Copy the test page link from Settings & privacy into a private browser window where you are signed out of WordPress. Clear page caches after changing settings. Choose one public page and a question, such as whether someone can find the size guide. Allow replay, scroll to the details and try the relevant link using sample details.

Wait for the test panel to confirm an upload. Signed-in visitors are excluded, and Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected. If no upload appears, use Recording health and the troubleshooting guide.

  3. Check the replay and masking

Return to Recordings, clear filters if needed and select Refresh recordings. Choose Watch on your test visit. Press Play, move along the timeline and inspect the moments when you entered sample details.

Confirm the entered values and private regions are masked. This is a reconstruction of the page: unapproved images, embedded payment frames and some layout details can be absent. Owner-approved static images can appear, while private regions stay excluded. If anything private remains visible, pause capture and strengthen exclusions before recording real visitors.

    Read the replay guide
  4. Keep a useful review note

Bookmark your test recording. Add one note describing whether the size guide or page detail was easy to find, what you observed and what you will check next. Use path, device, date and watched filters to find it again; save a filter combination you use often.

Notes are visible to authorised reviewers. Keep customer details, passwords and payment information out. A read-only reviewer can inspect existing notes but cannot add notes or bookmarks.

  5. Set your everyday recording limits

After the test, restore your normal sampling rate or pause recording. Choose retention and a payload budget your hosting can support. Check Recording health and review masking again when your theme or page layouts change.

Both editions start with seven-day retention and a 250 MiB payload budget. Pro allows up to 30 days and 2,048 MiB after checking hosting capacity. Upgrading preserves your settings. Existing 0.5.x budgets are preserved on upgrade. Raising a ceiling does not provide extra hosting space; reaching a limit pauses capture. Backups and exports need separate care.

The tutorial is optional in both editions. The website and plugin guides focus on replay, page interactions and choosing useful recording settings. Existing checkout tools remain available in the plugin’s Legacy checkout area. On this website, progress stays in page memory unless you allow optional saving in Cookies & storage. Try the sample website demo without installing anything, or browse the documentation guides (new tab) for a specific task.

This website explains the steps; it does not connect to your WordPress site or verify its settings. Pro purchasing is not open yet. Existing entitled users can use their private account for available downloads.
